My September fundraising event for my Guitars 4 Good project (re. childhood cancer awareness) is called ‘Gigging 4 Gold’: it’s a play on words (digging for gold); gold is the colour of the ribbon for childhood cancer awareness and the bands will in fact be gigging for gold (i.e., money).

Stereophonics’ PA, Natalie, has sent me an autographed photo of the band to sell/raffle on behalf of Guitars 4 Good. Aberdare of course is Stereophonics' home town.

The bands performing at the fundraiser are being interviewed over the 3 weeks leading up to the gig, on Radio Tircoed, an FM radio station (Swansea) which has a large audience.

I also have Solving Kids’ Cancer wristbands which will be sold on the night. The proceeds from which will go to a 5 year old Mia Chambers from the town next to mine, Merthyr Tydfil, who is suffering from neuroblastoma.

Excited (and a tad nervous) to be arranging my first ever fundraiser for my project 'Guitars 4 Good'.

3 amazing rock bands from South Wales will be playing: Nuclear Lullaby (pg. 2 of PP&P); The Starling Radicals (pg. 8) and Beyond The Break (pg. 12).

It's on Saturday, September 23rd and I've done a poster in readiness, just waiting on one of the bands to confirm something.

Funds raised will go towards buying personalised gifts for the children, future funding of 'G4G music as therapy' sessions on paediatric oncology wards, and some G4G merchandise (keyrings, wristbands) to help spread childhood cancer awareness.

I've done a poster for social media use, with details of how funds raised will be used - it's attached to this post, but I'm not sure you will be able to read it properly. I will be sharing it on Facebook (on the PP&P page, JD Music page and of course the Guitars 4 Good page) where it will be more clearly visible.

I'm honoured to have been asked to join the RT Rock Show team by writing for their website. The RT Rock Show airs on Radio Tircoed 106.5fm which is based in the Swansea area.

I've done an introductory blog for those who don't know what I do with JD Music Promotion, or Paradiddles Plectrums and Posers, or Guitars 4 Good.

I will then be spotlighting the amazing rock talent we have in Wales by writing about the bands I have worked with via both JD Music and/or Paradiddles Plectrums and Posers, probably once a month.

If any bands have any ideas, or would like to be involved with my fundraising in some way (maybe with a collection at a gig, for example), then please email me at: info [at] guitars4good.co.uk

I will give you a shout out on my Twitter and Facebook music pages, as well as giving you a mention on this website, the JD Music website, the Guitars 4 Good website and Stuart Cable’s tribute website.

So a bit of FREE PROMO in return for your help.

I am a woman with a bee in my bonnet and I'm on a mission.

I have started a new project called 'Guitars 4 Good', the strapline of which is 'using the power of music as a power of good'. I hope to raise awareness of neuroblastoma (the worst of children's cancer), help with campaigns to get drugs (which are used in the US and Europe) for our children in the UK instead of them having to travel to America, and also fundraise via music such as charity nights/gigs.

I'm only one woman but I am so incensed by the decision that our children here in the UK are not worth £2m a year (the projected cost of the drug needed to save their lives) that I have to do something. I don't ever want to be one of those people who says 'oh that's awful' and then forgets about it and does nothing.

This is the new website with full information. It's new, so it's just information at the moment but there is a planned charity night/gig due at the end of September.

I also plan on having 'Guitars 4 Good' wristbands to sell soon.

Oh and there is a Virgin Fundraising page for 'Guitars 4 Good' too, the link of which is on the new website, £1 is a help as it all adds up, and the money goes to Solving Kids' Cancer.

Thank you x

Yesterday I collected these bad boys ... the 50 limited editions CDs containing 2 awesome tracks from Stuart Cable's band Killing for Company.

You can hear both tracks on the www.jdmusicpromo.com website on their Soundcloud link:

'Surrender' is the main track

Release date 19th May, all proceeds to charity.

It's my first CD cover design and the boys let me put the JD Music logo on the back cover (well Darran's been on CD covers loads of times, but when else am I ever going to be on one?) :)

What Mr Roy Thomas says in the comment below is one of the reasons that I wanted to do something to honour Stuart and his charity work. He did a lot which people don’t actually know about.

He also pushed himself physically for the sake of charity, for example, doing the Nos Galan 5km road races on New Year’s Eve 2008, the Sports Relief Mile in March 2010, and only a few days before he died he had completed a gruelling charity cycle challenge. With 5 other men Stuart took 5 days to cycle the coastline of Wales, travelling distances of over 50 miles a day.

Roy J. Thomas, Chairman of Donate Wales and the Kidney Wales Foundation, said:

“Stuart was a fine man who really cared about Wales and his community. Much of his charitable work was hidden with his humility. He did so much including our Donate Wales campaign by taking part in dinners and adverts for us. There was something as we would say “addfwyn” about him.

Stuart was a great communicator and managed to touch the hearts of those in need. Patients liked him as he was so warm . Wales will be a poorer place without him.”

(‘Addfwyn’ is Welsh for ‘gentle’).

Killing For Company’s track ‘Surrender’ will be out 6 weeks today on Stuart’s birthday, May 19th.

I had an email today from a lady who, for some reason, thought that a photo of her featured as one of the examples of someone’s photography work was “available on your website as a poster” and she did not want her photograph being "available to the public".

I do not know why she thought that and she is the first person in 4 years since this website’s inception to think that. You cannot even right click on the photographs and do a 'save as'. The images are as protected as they can be.

However, to clarify to anyone and everyone else:

I do not sell anything on this website, it is purely a ‘showcase’ website, predominantly of music but also of photographers/videographers, studios, producers, and any other profession that may benefit musicians.

Nothing on this website is "available to the public" other than the fact that they can see the photographs and listen to the music.

As stated elsewhere on the site, anything featured on this site has had the approval of the copyright owner, be that musicians or photographers and I make no money from this website whatsoever.
