THE PEOPLE THE POET
The People The Poet are a 4-piece rock band from South Wales and used to perform under the moniker of ‘Tiger Please’.
The band’s debut album, ‘The Narrator’, was released on November 4th, 2013, and was 3 years in the making. The album has 15 tracks, 2 of which you can hear on this page, and consists of songs inspired by true stories sent to the band from fans, for example ‘Sing’ is about abuse & ‘Stabilisers (I Will Be)' is about the joy of fatherhood.
Leon Stanford is the band’s vocalist and his rich voice is superb and such a joy to listen to.
Apart from rave reviews for the album, the band don’t disappoint live either, when they also add a violinist and female vocalist … so check them out if you get the chance.
www.punktastic.com called 'The Narrator' a “genuinely unique” and “extremely accomplished album.” and Katie Vowles on www.electric-banana.co.uk summed it up thus: “This album is full of hooks and lyrical meaning, and to be honest, it’s hard to find any fault.”
Double Denim are an alternative indie rock band from Plymouth, consisting of siblings Chelsea and Jake, along with "non blood line family" Harry and Tom.
Guitar and Vocals - Chelsea Orme-Williams
Guitar and Vocals - Harry Stephenson
Bass - Jake Bradshaw
Drums - Tom Burrows
The video on this page is their new track, as at January 2017, called simply 'Ian'. The verses have an ethereal quality about them, which call to mind a hazy summer's day in a Fleet Foxes 'Mykanos' kind of way, with a more uptempo foot stomping chorus. Double Denim are a breath of fresh air for sure.
